The more interesting thing about the Ouya game console is that it is completely open source, including its design.
3D printer owners will soon be able to print their own console case to help with the problem.
At the Game Developers Conference, Ouya announced to work with MakerBot to provide customized 3D printing
Ouya cases through Thingiverse.
This week, as part of the official unveiling of the console, Ouya will showcase the 3D printed Ouya game console.
\"We are very excited to be able to provide the 3D printing development kit on Thingiverse.
Com of OUYA, \"pointed out Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot.
\"OUYA is one of the most exciting new developments in the game world, and MakerBot is happy to be a part of it.
The custom 3D printing console case is also very cool.
\"Ouya owners with access to 3D printers in the future can download the files needed to print the console case today.
MakerBot did it too.
The 3dm file also works for those who want to create their own custom design based on the initial design provided by MakerBot.
MakerBot pointed out that the custom Ouya housing is made of PLA filaments, but said ABS plastic should also work.
Again, these cases are printed using the Replicator 2 of MakerBot, but any 3D printer with the right build volume should work.
